Kia Cadenza 2010

Kia Cadenza 2010

The all-new Kia Cadenza luxury sporty sedan revealed in Korea today (where it is called the K7). New Cadenza will make its overseas world premiere at next month’s Riyadh Motor Show in Saudi Arabia on 12 December, followed immediately by an appearance at the Dubai Motor Show on 15 December.

The Cadenza is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 engine boasting 290hp and 338 Nm of torque. The power is passed to the front wheels via a six speed automatic transmission. Performance has been enhanced over the predecessor with an all-new and more compact suspension system and a lower kerb weight of 1575kg. The car will now propel from 0-100 km/h in 7.2 seconds before hitting a top speed of 230 km/h (143 mph). Two more gasoline engines will also be available, including an entry level unit with 165hp.

Kia’s new front-wheel drive ‘Type-N’ platform makes its first appearance in Cadenza and will be utilized in other Kia models in the future. The lighter (and stronger) bodyshell, together with all-new suspension systems, helped Cadenza to achieve a weight loss of up to 130 kg, compared with the previous Opirus – even though the new model has numerous additional features.

As part of Kia’s drive to increase sales in the large sedan segment, the new Cadenza will be manufactured with a total of three gasoline engines – with different engines being available around the world to best suit local legal requirements. Power outputs will range from 165 ps to 290 ps and all models will feature front-wheel drive and Kia’s all-new six-speed automatic transmission.

Offered in two- and four-wheel drive, with class-leading towing of 7,500 pounds when partnered to the V8, 5,000 pounds with the V6, it offers unmatched capabilities for a weekend of camping and off-roading, just as much as a sophisticated night on the town.

Kia Borrego continues to offer the same unprecedented level of standard safety equipment as all Kia vehicles, with features such as advanced two-stage airbags, full-length side curtain airbags for all three rows, four-wheel disc brakes with an antilock brake system (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD), brake assist system (BAS), electronic stability control (ESC) and traction control (TCS), and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Borrego also offers downhill assist control (DAC), which keeps the vehicle moving straight and steady down steep grades and helps to keep the wheels from locking, as well as hill assist control (HAC), which helps the driver move up steep inclines without fishtailing or allows the vehicle to stop uphill without sliding backward.
